Four Elected to Board of Trustees
of University of Minnesota Foundation

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, 11/12/04 - The University of Minnesota
Foundation board of trustees elected four new members at its
annual meeting Nov. 6.
Elected to three-year terms on the board were:
B. Todd Jones, a former U.S. Attorney for the District
of Minnesota and now an attorney with Robins, Kaplan, Miller
& Ciresi in Minneapolis, focusing on business litigation.
Robert D. MacDonald, senior vice president for marketing
and sales of 3M Co., and president of the 3M Foundation. He
is also a former board member of the American Red Cross.
Charles M. Osborne, chief financial officer of Fair
Isaac Corp. He has also held executive leadership positions
at Deluxe Corp.; Graco, Inc., and McLeodUSA. Before joining
Fair Isaac, Osborne was CFO and vice president for strategic
initiatives at the University of Minnesota Foundation.
Dr. Patricia Simmons, a physician and professor of
pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Dr. Simmons was
elected by the state Legislature in 2001 to serve as a Regent
of the University of Minnesota.
The board also named as officers: Diana E. Murphy, U.S.
Circuit Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit,
continues as board chair. Marilyn Carlson Nelson, chairman
and CEO of Carlson Companies, will be joined by Fred R.
Friswold, CEO of Tonka Equipment Co., as vice chairs. Stanley
Hubbard, chairman, Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc., was named
secretary; and B. Kristine Johnson, principal, Affinity
Capital Management, was elected treasurer. Gerald B. Fischer
continues as president and CEO of the Foundation, a position
he has held since 1990.
At its meeting, the board also promoted Julie Pelzl to the
position of vice president for human resources for the University
of Minnesota Foundation.
The University of Minnesota Foundation, founded in 1962, is
an independent, non-profit organization that builds greatness
at the University of Minnesota by raising and managing gifts
from alumni and friends.
